Fix bathroom sink plug

Hi, we had a bathroom renovation a couple years ago and got an updated Kohler pedestal sink.  The metal stopper in the drain keeps going flat and the water can't leave the sink.  We can't figure it out.  I imagine it's an easy fix. Need someone with plumbing experience.

I need a LICENSED appliances technician

My built-in microwave was installed in 2022, but the house remained unoccupied until June 2024. The microwave has been in use since then without any issues until recently.
