Gig Description
I will preface this with: I am not a carpenter. Nor am I much more than an amateur painter. I know what I want to be able to accomplish, with respect to my paintings, but if there is a better way to design or accomplish this, I am all for thinking outside the box.
I want to be able to paint several paintings, on canvas or board at the same time. They need to be simultaneously painted.
I have no room inside, so it needs to be in my back yard. (So, think, treated, water resistant/proof lumber)
I have created a graphical representation of a POSSIBLE way to do it only to make a better understanding of my end goal. Again, if there is a better way to reach my end goal (an "easel" -or two - to work on several paintings at once), I wholeheartedly encourage this.
Additionally, this is a lot of work to just trash it when I am done. So even if I don't use it again for 4, 8, 12 months, I would still like to use again. So 'folding' it should a priority.
I see it as this: a frame of 1"x4"x12's (or two 6ft.), angled slightly at about 80-85 degrees(???) sturdy enough to not blow over, fall over, etc. It may be better as two 6ft. "easels" for easier storage and can just use both at the same time. Set on a platform/frame that is heavy/sturdy enough to support the frame. (The canvas or boards are not that heavy). Hinged to allow it to be stored.
It would have a small strip of wood to set the canvas on (removable?) perhaps at a height of 3ft from ground.
At this time, I have no idea how I will temporarily clip/attach/fasten the canvas to this frame temporarily. C-Clamps?
Budget? Honestly I have no idea what this would cost - materials & labor. And I would like to be 'budget'. Painting is not my FT job. It could all end up a bust with my paintings buried in my basement. So even if it is one-time use...well.
So I need a full estimate, materials and labor. I need to weigh whether it is cost prohibitive.
Think outside the box, by all means!
