Gig Description

I have a traditional metal mailbox on a wooden post. I've repainted the post, both with a stain deterrent (kilz), and an exterior paint. I have numerous scraps of James Hardie boards from a home remodeling project a few years ago. I'm looking for a handy person to refine my design and who has access to a table saw and other necessary tools. I can buy in advance the color matched caulk, for weather sealing, and can have a small batch of color matched paint prepared. I may need some guidance or experience on how to fabricate the door hinge and latch, and a postal red flag traditionally on mailboxes.

Current mailbox is 18 inches long. The new mailbox should be about the same length.

Photos below include an example of the general shape I'd like the mailbox to be, and photos of the current mailbox and an example of the James Hardie plank. All boards are 8 1/4 inches wide. Some have a 'factory' edge and others have a cut edge. The mailbox should be created so that cut edges can be hidden from sight, or if not possible, then painted.

Date of the work is TBD.
