Our family is looking to hire a full-time caregiver for our son. (M-F 9am-5pm). He is a quadriplegic with ALS and needs assistance with daily living activities. He uses eye-gaze technology to communicate. His legs are strong and can weight-bear on them during transfer from bed/chair/toilet. He is able to eat, drink and breathe, though he uses a bi-pap at time during the day. He is a veteran and his care is coordinated through the Veterans Administration Directed Care Program and includes Workers Compensation Insurance. A few things to note:  We will train  

Qualified candidates are able to work in the Lower Bucks County PA area and:

1) individuals (not agencies)

2) must have a valid social security number

3) must pass a background check

4) must be physically strong to perform transfers from bed to chair, chair to bathroom etc.

5) willingness and aptitude to learn how to:

      A. to drive a power chair

      B. . Operate a bipap, blender and bidet

       C. troubleshoot issues with computer -eyegaze

6) my son is a great guy, former Navy pilot. He likes reading, watching sports and true crime shows. He is active in his boys activities and He rides an elliptical bicycle every day.

This is an active family with 3 boys, 2 dogs and family members “in and out” all day long managing the household and activities. My son’s wife will train on all daily living requirements.

We will consider shortened shifts, ie: MWF or T/Th if we can find two or more caregiver candidates looking for that type of schedule.

This is a great opportunity for part time students, Fitness Trainers, EMTs/Firefighters with available time during daytime hours.
